Residential and Ashrama schools.
This district had 2 residential schools and 8
morarji Residential Scholls and 2 Kittur Rani Channamma Residential Schools SC/ST and down
proven and other O.B.C whose parents are
socially and economically poor and who are not in position to continue education are
admitted. In the children will be served with
food two meals and one Tiffen at the cost of Rs. 750/- per head, besides food students are
provided with clothing and bedding materials. The
children studying in 1st to 5th are abailable in Ashrama and
Pre-metric hostels
In Chickmagalur district there are 38 Pre-metric hostels were in the students studying in 6th to 10th standard are admitted in these hostels. The boarding charges will Rs. 650/- per head and students will be given other facilities like clothing, stationery and bedding materials etc., part time tutors will be admitted to improve the educational level of the hostel inmates.
Post- metric hostels
Students
studying PUC and other higher education are admitted to these hostels. They are 16 post metric hostels. Mess charges
will be met out of Government of India Scholarships which where is depending upon the
course of studies. Mess charges for the post
metric hostels in Rs. 750/- per month.
EBL Charges
An EBL charge is only differences of amount claimed in addition to G.O.I.S. Scholarships to meet the mess charges.
Price Money
SC Students who passed the following
examinations in first class for the 1st
attempt will be sanctioned price money as noted below.

Book Bank Scheme
SC Collage going students are provided Book Bank facilities as for the scheme Books would be provided to the collage with the almera (Rs. 5,000-00 for books and Rs. 2,000/- for almera for ldue group of Sc Students)
Employment & Training
Through Social Welfare Department, Employment and Training
Programs are provided as mentioned below.
1. Tailoring Training: There are Four (4) centers in the district and the no. of trainees are 80. Stipend of Rs. 150/- p.m is being given to trainees.
2. Training for Law Graduates: There are Law Graduates under gone training in the district. Stipend applied is Rs. 1000/- and period of training is 4 years.
Other Socio-Economic Programmes:
a) Removal of un-touchability: As per the article 17 of the constitution practice of un- touchability in any form is banned. But howener, in practice un- touchability still exists especially in rural areas. In addition to the various measures taken for the removal of un-touchability by the government-through publicity, educational schemes, organization of special programs- In order to create social harmony and to reduce the social distrance between the different castes, the inter caste marriages have been encouraged by the government of Karnataka. Either of the party being S.C person and the other another caste HINDU: and a scheme if financial assistance to victims of atrocities.
Financial
Assistance to inter Caste Married Couple is Rs. 50,000. (Rs. 25,000-00 cash and Rs.
25,000-00 in the form of N.S.C) During the year 2009-10 25.20 Lakhs were sanctioned to 109
inter cast married couples.
Financial Assistance to Victims of Atrocity on S.C/S.T by other Rs. 2 lakes compensation is admissible for the death Victims of the atrocities by the Deputy Commissioner of the concerned district depending up on the nature of loss sustained. During the year 2009-10 Rs. 6.86 Lakh Were spent to the 54 atrocity victims.
Special component plan:
The
Schedule cast component plant (SCP) is a comprehensive, integrated planned development
efforts directed towards eradicating poverty among SC and providing to their habitation
essential basic infractructure like, Housing, Water Supply, Sanitation, approach
Roads, irrigation wells, land to landless persons, health care, Agricultural Activities,
Horticularal Activities etc., About 38
development departments including boards and corporations are implementing the schemes
under SCP/ TSP by earmarking 15% of their
annual plan budget.
